Charles University in Prague

charles_logoCharles University(CU) in Prague is the oldest and largest university in the Czech Republic, and one of the oldest universities in Europe. Founded in April 7, 1348, by a Czech and Roman king Charles IV it was the first university in the Holy Roman Empire and in Central Europe in general. Charles University contains 17 faculties, 3 collegiate institutes, 6 additional establishments for educational, scientific, research and developmental, 5 university-wide facilities and the vice-chancellor´s/ rector´s office as an executive establishment for Charles University management. Charles University has entered into 450 bilateral contracts and 170 international partnerships with foreign universities. There are more than 4300 foreign students—750 of which study in English language academic programs. Over 5000 participants graduate from continuing education courses every year.

How to apply

Charles University faculties offers bachelor, master and doctoral study programs in English, but some degree programs are available in Czech language only. So, applicants who have a very good knowledge of Czech language are encouraged to study in Czech language. Each faculty maintains its own admissions office and specialized staff to meet the needs of their prospective students.

Students who wish spending a part of their studies at CU may come to study on the basis of intergovernmental agreements, exchange programs or study abroad programs.
