Contest for the Best New Digital Solution for Citizen Participation

Description

Do you have an idea for a digital tool on how to improve citizen participation in decisionmaking at local, national, regional or the EU level, and improve communication between citizens and decision-makers? Is your idea innovative in approach to solving problems?

Do you think that digital democracy can support higher inclusion of citizens in policy-making?

If your answers to these questions are positive, they invite you to share your idea about an innovative digital solution which would strengthen citizen activism and improve the communication between citizens and decision-makers.

Belgrade Open School is organizing the contest together with partnering organizations from Croatia (Gong), Montenegro (Institute Alternative), Slovenia (PiNA) and Spain (Access Info Europe) within the Project „YOU4EU – Citizen Participation 2.0“. The Project lasts from September 2018 until February 2020 with the support of the European Union within Europe for Citizens Programme

Eligibility

  • The participation in the Contest is open to any natural person with full legal capacity as well as start-up, non-governmental organization or informal citizen initiative;
  • At least one person in the team must be over 18 years;
  • Teams made up of natural persons must appoint a leader who will be the recipient of the possible prize;
  • The eligible participants must be from the following countries: Albania, Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Czech Republic, Italy, Kosovo*, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain.

Award

Maximum 5 top ideas will be selected and a grant award in the amount of 2,000 EUR (including transaction costs and taxes) will be awarded to the winner with the aim of developing the awarded e-tool solution. Also, if you enter the final round of the Contest you will get an opportunity to pitch your idea to tech enthusiasts, government representatives, and international non-profit organizations at the Debate in Zagreb in September 2019.
