Institute of science and technology (IST) in Austria is a world-class basic science research institute in the heart of Europe. Doctoral education offers a US-style graduate school experience, in which students are admitted to the PhD program, rather than individual research groups, and only select their PhD supervisors after a year of rotations and a unique interdisciplinary training program.
IST Austria offers excellent infrastructure, an English-speaking and internationally diverse community, and proximity to Vienna, consistently ranked as one of the most desirable cities to live in the world.
Students who have a bachelor’s or a master’s degree in the following (or interdisciplinary) areas are eligible to apply:
- Computer Science;
- Interdisciplinary or related areas.
You also need to be proficient in English oral and written communication.
All PhD student scholarships are fully funded, at internationally competitive salary levels, and receive full social security coverage. There is also financial support for students to cover travel expenses for attending scientific conferences and workshops.
