Riga Graduate School of Law (RGSL) is pleased to announce a competition for the Civil Society Leadership Awards for an LL.M programme in Public International Law and Human Rights. The programme is aimed at students interested in working with international public law issues, including human rights, in a national or international environment. It offers in-depth studies in fundamental issues of public international law and human rights law, the interaction between the two areas of law, and in current trends of their development.
Courses cover following topics:
theory and development of international public law and human rights law
international humanitarian law and conflict resolution
international criminal law
European human rights law
business and human rights
The programme consists of academic studies and thesis writing. Following successful completion, students are awarded a master’s degree (LL.M) in Public International Law and Human Rights.
Five full Scholarships are on offer at RGSL to applicants from Azerbaijan, Belarus, Cambodia, Egypt, Ethiopia, Laos, South Sudan, Sudan, Syria, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, who have:
- at least 240 ECTS credits (160 Latvian credits)
- bachelor’s or master’s degree in law or related fields (or will be awarded a degree prior to admission to the programme), obtained in at least four years long studies.
- proof of English language proficiency: IELTS 5.5+, TOEFL IBT 69+ or TOEFL paper based test 525+
- who in the future want actively contribute to the civil society development of their home countries.
Applicants must indicate current place of employment and specify the applicant’s future plans to contribute to the development of civil society in the home country after completing the LL.M programme.
Successful applicants will receive the following support for studies at RGSL – tuition and mandatory university fees, monthly stipend for room, board, and other living expenses, program-related travel, accident and sickness insurance during the program, funds for educational materials and possible internship support.
